Partecipazione e Conflitto (Participation and Conflict) was born in 2008 by the initiative of a network of scholars of social movements and political participation based in different Italian Universities (European University Institute, University of Bergamo, University of Catania, University of Florence, University of Milan, University of Pisa, University of Roma Tre, University of Salento).
In a few years the Journal has become a benchmark for a wide European network of scholars in sociology and political science associated to the European Sociological Association (Research Networks of Political Sociology and Social Movements), the European Consortium for Political Research (Standing groups of Political Sociology and Participation & Mobilization), the Italian Sociological Association (Section of Political Sociology), the Italian Society of Political Science (Standing group of Social Movements and Political Participation), and the Centre for the Study of Politics and Society (CSPS) of the University of Salento.
Since its foundation the Journal was published in Italian (sporadically in Spanish and English, too) by the Italian publisher FrancoAngeli. Starting from 2014, the Editorial Team decided to publish it in English on an electronic and open access platform, to make research results freely available to the scientific community.
The new series of Partecipazione e Conflitto, as Open Journal of Sociopolitical Studies, is managed by the ESE Salento University Publishing but in the Archives section it is possible to consult the contents of all issues published since 2008 accessing abstracts and previews of every article from the webpage of the old publisher.
