In the years 1968-1971, Donato Valli was entrusted by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lecce with the task of teaching "Bibliography and Librarianship": the reasons for this choice must be sought in his youth and training years first at the private library of Girolamo Comi, then at the "Nicola Bernardini" Provincial library of Lecce. Briefly illustrating the scientific contributions produced even after the transition to the chair of modern and contemporary Italian literature, and identifying the main lines of his unfortunately short academic season, that is, research, production and teaching, the author traces a profile of Valli which integrates the other aspects of his personality. Through the list of the degree theses assigned, his current idea of the territory and the book heritage is reconstructed as an inexhaustible resource at the base of literary studies.

A Donato Valli fu affidato negli anni 1968-1971 dalla Facoltà di Lettere dell'Università di Lecce l'incarico dell'insegnamento di "Bibliografia e Biblioteconomia": le ragioni di questa scelta vanno ricercate negli anni giovanili e di formazione prima presso la biblioteca privata di Girolamo Comi, poi presso la biblioteca Provinciale "Nicola Bernardini" di Lecce. Illustrando sinteticamente i contributi scientifici prodotti anche dopo il passaggio alla cattedra di Letteratura italiana moderna e contemporanea, ed individuando le linee portanti di questa sua purtroppo breve stagione accademica, cioè la ricerca, la produzione e l'insegnamento, l'autore traccia un profilo di Valli che integra gli altri aspetti della sua personalità. Attraverso l'elenco delle tesi di laurea assegnate si ricostruisce la sua attualissima idea del territorio e del patrimonio librario inteso come inesauribile risorsa alla base degli studi letterari.
