Paul Ricoeur: la route de la reconnaissance de l'Homme faillible a l'Homme capable

Dans l’oeuvre de Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005), le thème de la reconnaissance, question extraordinairement actuelle aujourd’hui, ne débute ni ne se limite au Parcours de la reconnaissance (2004), dernier livre du philosophe français. Ce qui donne de l’importance à ce thème, dans ce livre, c’est que l’auteur y effectue un parcours en direction d’une philosophie de la reconnaissance. Mais cette pensée de la reconnaissance se trouve au coeur de son entreprise intellectuelle de telle façon qu’il peut être retracé dès le début de son cheminement intellectuel, précisément dès ses premiers écrits. Notre propos est de repérer les différentes occurrences de ce thème et d’analyser dans quels contextes et de quelles façons Ricoeur y fait référence. Comporte-t-il la même nuance que dans le Parcours de la reconnaissance, avec ses trois sens de reconnaissance-identification, reconnaissance de soi, et reconnaissance mutuelle? Si la reconnaissance y est voilée, sa présence serait-elle cachée sous la figure d’un autre vocable? Peut-être allons-nous trouver une autre nuance de la reconnaissance non mentionnée ou moins développée dans son dernier ouvrage?

In the writings of the French Philosopher Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005), the theme of ‘recognition’, a very vital issue in today’s world, neither begins nor limits itself to his last book, The Course of Recognition (2004), alone. The prominence of the theme in this book is in the fact that it is in this work that Ricoeur attempts a philosophical probe on the theory of recognition. Thus, while ‘recognition’ is explicitly studied and dealt with in this book, the theme lies inherently at the core of his work, and runs through his entire intellectual wayfaring, having roots in his very first writings. The present paper proposes to find out the different occurences of ‘recognition’ in his writings, to analyse the contexts of its appearance, and the manner in which Ricoeur refers to it. The paper purviews whether or not the word holds the same significance as in The Course of Recognition with its three-pronged meanings such as ‘recognition-identification’, ‘recognition of oneself’, and ‘mutual recognition’. In case ‘recognition’ had been veiled, has another word been used instead of it? The paper raises also the hypothesis that one might find an entirely new meaning to the word ‘recognition’, never mentioned or is very much less developed in his last work.

Nell'opera di Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) il tema del riconoscimento – questione estremamente attuale oggi – non non origina dal e non si limita al Parcours de la reconnaissance (2004), ultimo capolavoro del filosofo francese. Ciò che dà importanza a questo tema nel libro del 2004 è che l'autore effettua un percorso nella direzione di una effettiva «filosofia del riconoscimento». Ma il tema del riconoscimento si ritrova al cuore della sua impresa intellettuale, tanto da potersi rintracciare già all'inizio del suo cammino, sin dai suoi primi scritti. Il nostro proposito è di individuare le differenti occorrenze di questo tema è di analizzare in quali contesti e come Ricoeur vi faccia riferimento. Comportano la stessa articolazione del Parcours de la reconnaissance con i suoi tre gradi del «riconoscimento-identificazione», «riconoscimento di sé» e di «mutuo riconoscimento»? Se il riconoscimento è stato velato, la sua presenza potrebbe nascondersi sotto l'immagine di un altro vocabolo? Potremmo forse trovare un altro livello del riconoscimento non menzionato o meno sviluppato nella sua ultima opera?
