Birgit Spechtenhauser

Birgit Spechtenhauser comes from the multilingual region of South Tyrol. After graduating at the University of Trento in Lingue e letterature straniere moderne, she obtained her teaching qualification following a postgraduate degree at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. She has been teaching English for almost 20 years and in recent years, she has been mainly active in teacher training and as a lecturer at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Currently she is also part of the research group DyME (Dynamics of Multilingualism with English) at Innsbruck University where she obtained her PhD in linguistics in 2022. Her scientific works focuses on observing the development of language awareness in multilinguals, language contact phenomena and transfer in dynamic language systems.
Ulrike Jessner

Ulrike Jessner is Professor at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Pannonia, Veszprem where she acts as founding member of the International Doctoral School of Multilingualism. She has published widely in the field of multilingualism with a special focus on the acquisition of English in multilingual contexts. She is the co-author of A Dynamic Model of Multilingualism (with Philip Herdina in 2002) which pioneered CDST in language acquisition research. She is Founding Editor of the International Journal of Multilingualism and the book series Trends in Applied Linguistics (Brill Mouton de Gruyter).
