Ascoltare e interpretare il portoghese con Audacity

Abstract

During and after the period of training in interpretation, Italian-speaking students face difficulties in listening and understanding the original text. In fact, the phonic continuum is always realized in a different way and depends not only on the speakers and the dimensions of the variation at diatopic, diastratic, diaphasic level, but also on a series of phenomena linked to the hypoarticulated speech of those who communicate with naturalness and spontaneity in their L1. For a native Italian speaker that is formed in interpretation from Portuguese into Italian, there are several phenomena that can make the perception, the recognition of segments of speech (vowel reduction, internal and external sandhi and others) and thus the reformulation into Italian very difficult. In this communication the use of Audacity software will be proposed to reflect on some aspects and overcome the relative difficulties of comprehension. In particular, we will highlight how, through the Audacity program, a trace of the original text can be retraced by isolating certain segments and specific passages, changing the speed of speech, so as to become more familiar with the spoken language and improve bottom-up understanding processes, obviously in relation to the ability of exploiting the context, previous knowledge and in general the top-down processes.
