Pratiche religiose e rituali sociali nel periodo post-tridentino. La diocesi di Amelia dal 1574 al 1595

La fortunata concettualizzazione storiografica di «disciplinamento post-tridentino» ha fornito stimoli per nuove ricerche: si è approfondito il nesso tra le istituzioni, le strutture locali, le condizioni spirituali e il contesto teologico ed ecclesiale; si è prestato attenzione ai vescovi, inserendoli nei luoghi della convivenza urbana; si è gettata un po' di luce sul rapporto tra i fedeli e le istituzioni ecclesiastiche, sulla presenza e permanenza di rituali sociali. In questa prospettiva, un'indagine condotta sulla piccola diocesi di Amelia, situata nell'Umbria meridionale, può contribuire a far emergere i meccanismi messi in atto dalla Chiesa dopo il Concilio di Trento, nonché le modalità attraverso cui il modello romano di applicazione delle norme tridentine venne adattato alla realtà delle diocesi. Anche in questo caso le fonti utilizzate sono: la visita apostolica (1574) compiuta da Pietro Camaiani, vescovo di Ascoli Piceno, la relazione redatta in occasione della visita ad limina (1595) dal vescovo Antonio Maria Graziani, gli atti del sinodo diocesano (1595) celebrato dallo stesso vescovo Graziani.

The effective historiographical conceptualization of «post-Tridentine disciplining» has paved the way for new research. For instance, it has been further studied the connection between institutions, local structures, spiritual conditions and the theological and ecclesiastical context. Moreover, particular attention has been paid to bishops by placing them in an urban environment. Some light has been shed on the relationship between believers and ecclesiastical institutions as well as on the permanence of specific social rituals. In this regard, an inquiry on the small diocese of Amelia (in the south of Umbria) can contribute to disclose some devices employed by the Church after the Council of Trent and also to reveal how the Roman model of application of the Tridentine regulations was adapted to the dioceses. Once again the employed sources are the following: the apostolic visitation of the bishop of Ascoli Piceno, Pietro Camaiani; bishop Antonio Maria Graziani's report for his ad limina visitation (1595) and the proceedings of the Diocesan synod celebrated by bishop Graziani himself.
