Las prestaciones vacías (non-renditions) en la interpretación judicial entre español e italiano: reflexiones teóricas e implicaciones para la práctica docente
Abstract
This study focuses on interpreter non-renditions (Wadensjö 1998) and their acceptability, focusing specifically on the peculiarities of the court setting. Building on these reflections, the article also tackles the teaching practice by looking at the communicative behavior of students when it comes to non-renditions. The schema and interactive frame constructs (Tannen & Wallat 1987) are used to analyze student performance in court hearing simulation sessions as part of an interpreting teaching module in a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting taught at the University of Genoa (Italy). Finally, the effectiveness and the limitations of simulation as a teaching tool for the practice of non-renditions are briefly discussed.
