Focus and Scope

Interdisciplinary Political Studies (IdPS) aims to pursue two goals: affirming the importance of rigorous, high-quality Open Access publishing in the field of Political Studies, without imposing article processing charges to authors, and opening the fields of comparative politics and international relations to the contribution of other related disciplines. It is open to scholars studying political issues through the lens of several social science disciplines such as political science, international relations, political theory, political economy, sociology, legal studies and contemporary history. Interdisciplinary analyses are particularly welcome. It publishes two issues per year focusing on domestic and international politics.

IdPS considers the following types of submissions: Research Articles, Research Notes, Review Essays and Book Reviews. Prospective guest editors are invited to submit special issues proposals.

All papers are subject to a rigorous process of double-blind peer-review.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts received by Interdisciplinary Political Studies are subject to a rigorous process of double-blind peer-review. The evaluation process consists of two stages.

Firstly, all manuscripts are assessed for suitability by the editors, who judge their relevance with respect to the editorial policies of the journal. The Editors may reject those manuscripts which fall outside the scope of the journal or are judged as below minimum scientific standards. In this stage manuscripts may be checked with an anti-plagiarism software.

Suitable papers will be assigned to a member of the Editorial Staff. In this stage of the evaluation process, manuscripts will be sent to at least two anonymous referees that will be selected according to their specific expertise.

Referees are encouraged to provide constructive feedback even in cases of negative assessment.

Publication Frequency

The Journal is published in two issues per year.

Open Access Policy

Interdisciplinary Political Studies provides open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the researchers, improves the global exchange of knowledge. All accepted articles are freely and permanentely available online for anyone, immediately on publication.

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Editors' responsibilities

Publication decisions

The editors are responsible for deciding which of the papers submitted to the journal will be sent to peer-review and published. The editors will evaluate manuscripts without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. The decision will be based on the paper’s importance, originality and clarity, and the study’s validity and its relevance to the journal's scope. Current legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism should also be considered.

Confidentiality

The editors and the editorial staff members must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author(s), possible and actual reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher. They should preserve the anonymity of authors and reviewers throughout the peer-review process.

Identification and prevention of research misconduct

The publisher subscribes iThenticate by iParadigms and promotes its use to prevent plagiarism. The editors are responsible for checking against instances of research misconduct. In that case the editors will opt for desk-rejection or retraction.

Reviewers' responsibilities

Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be disclosed to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editors.

Standards of objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author(s) is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Conflict of interest

Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, research funders, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.

Authors' duties

Originality, plagiarism, self-plagiarism and acknowledgement of sources

Authors will submit only entirely original works, and will appropriately cite or quote the work and/or words of others. Non-copyrighted publicly available material must be attributed properly; third party material can be used as long as the author(s) request a written permission to the respective owner(s). IdPS does not accept manuscripts which have been published as copyrighted material elsewhere as well as instances of multiple, redundant or concurrent publication.

Reporting standards and other malpractices

IdPS does not accept manuscripts including fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements, libels and instances of defamation, as well as falsified, manipulated or fabricated data.

Authorship of the paper

Principal authorship, authorship order and other publication credits should be based on the scientific or professional contributions of the individuals involved, regardless of their status. Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) retain the rights to the published material.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest

All authors should include a statement disclosing any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and to cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper in form of an erratum. If the editor or the publisher learn from a third party that a published work contains a significant error or inaccuracy, it is the obligation of the author to promptly retract or correct the paper or provide evidence to the editor of the correctness of the original paper.
