The essay investigates the role and the functions of the Syndicus during the Late Roman Empire. In particular, it focuses on analyzing the testimony of Arc. Char. L.S. de mun. civ. (D. 50.4.18.3) and Herm. 1 epist. (D. 50.4.1.2), assuming that various administrative functions (also those different from the original task of legal representation of corporations of the civitates) were attributed to the Syndici during the period from the late third century to the first half of the fourth century.

Cet essai s'interroge sur le rôle et les fonctions du Syndicus dans l'Empire romain tardif. En particulier, il se concentre sur l'analyse du témoignage de Arc.Char L.S. de mun. civ. (D. 50.4.18.3) et Herm. 1 epist. (D. 50.4.1.2), en supposant que pour une période allant de la fin du IIIe siècle jusqu'à la première moitié du quatrième siècle, on attribuait aux syndici de diverses fonctions administratives aussi différentes de la tâche d'origine de la représentation juridique des corporations de civitates.
