“Male d’arcu” e altri costrutti polirematici nelle denominazioni delle malattie nei dialetti salentini

Abstract
The polyrhematic male d’arcu corresponds to the evil of the rainbow. It belongs to the class of nominal and prepositional polyrhematic expressions. This work examines the main features of same diseases names’ in the Salento dialect; also this paper presents the results of a short comparison between the complex words male d’arcu, male de Santu Dunatu/Tunatu and focu/fuecu de Sant’Antoni. In conclusion, we will study how the use of polyrhematics responds to a dramatic attempt to deal with the experience of pain or illness, in a way that is as acceptable as possible, so if we dedicate ourselves to the saint in question we can it alleviate our disorders.
