La deterrenza nucleare israeliana: Il "Critical Technological Assessment in Israel and NATO Nations" del 1987

Abstract

The Israeli government has never officially denied nor confirmed that it possessed nuclear weapons. This policy of deliberate ambiguity, endorsed by the United States, is necessary for the country to maintain a level of nuclear deterrence at the minimum price of the possible political cost. In March 2015 the Pentagon has declassified a top secret document of 1987 entitled "Critical Technological Assessment in Israel". It describes in detail the Israeli technological progress in the 70’s and 80’s. This ratifies the end of the advantageous ambiguity: what are the possible consequences?
