La folla pandemica: i disordini leccesi del 26 ottobre 2020

Indipendentemente dalle differenze, le proteste pandemiche hanno segnato il ritorno dell'elemento della folla e dello spontaneismo all'interno del repertorio della protesta contemporaneo. Il mio lavoro si basa su un'osservazione partecipante. Ho analizzato attraverso la lente degli studi sui movimenti sociali e della politica del confitto, un caso studio: la sommossa che si è verificata a Lecce il 26 Ottobre 2020. In quel giorno, non solo a Lecce ma in tutta Italia, si verificarono diverse manifestazioni e dimostrazioni contro il coprifuoco imposto dal governo per contenere la diffusione della pandemia. Questo ritorno a forme e logiche di protesta premoderne ha messo in luce la profondità della crisi emersa durante il periodo pandemico, durante la quale le disuguaglianze si sono ulteriormente intensificate gettando nel disordine gruppi e classi sociali molto eterogenee.

Regardless of their differences, pandemic protests have pointed the return of a crowd element and spontaneous forms of action through different tactics. My work is based on participant observation. I analyzed with the lens of social movement studies and contentious politics a case study: the turmoil that took place in Lecce on October 26, 2020. In that day, not only in Lecce but throughout Italy, many people took the street to demonstrate against curfew imposed by the government to contain the spread of the pandemic. This return to pre-modern protest logics highlighted the depth of the crisis revealed by Covid-19, during which inequalities have further intensified.
