Caterina Arcidiacono is Psychologist, Psychoanalyst, Full Professor of Community Psychology, Department of  Humanities , Federico II University of Naples (Italy). 

Founder of ENCP (European Network of Community Psychologists) and ECPA (European Community Psychology Association).

ECPA PRESIDENT  2011-2013;  ECPA TREASURER  2014-2017; 2017-2019.

Member of the EFPA standing Committee on Community Psychology. Former member of the EFPA  task force on community psychology  (2011-2013).

Member of the Campania Region core committee of Italian Association of Psychology (2010-2020); former President (1994-1999) of the Italian Association of Community Psychology SIPCO.

She is former Coordinator of the Phd Course in  Gender Studies, of Federico II University of Naples. Cofounder and former Deputy President (1996-2010) of Fondazione Mediterraneo

Director of the Biannual Post-graduate Master Course in “Theories in Community Complexity and Development” on behalf of the Mediterranean Laboratory Foundation appointed by the Ministry for University and Scientific Research.(2000-2002).

Since 2003 she teaches community psychology, for the undergraduate degree in Psychology and from 2005 Theories and models of community psychology for the graduate degree in Psychology of the University Federico II of Naples. In the same years she was also giving courses in Health Psychology and Social Psychology   at graduate and undergraduate level in Psychology; she gave courses on Social psychology, Psychology of tourism and Community Psychology for the degree of Social Workers and Science of Tourism.

From 1980 to 2001, Psychologist, Family Centre, Naples Health Authority; 1996-2000 Director in Charge of the Family Centre, a structure integrated with Naples Municipality Social  Services.

Director ot the following  research projects:

1)    Grant 220.000   EU- Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme: Project  2018-2020. (VIDACS) Violent dads in child shoes.

2)    Grant 200.000 euros:  Beldì 2; Family-work balancing project. P.O.R. Campania FSE 2016-2018 Asse II Obiettivo Operativo:  “Promuovere azioni di supporto, studi, analisi nonché la predisposizione esperimentazione di modelli che migliorino la condizione femminile nel mercato del lavoro”.

3)    Grant 15.000 euros. Work related stress. An empirical research in a national research organization (2015).

4) Grant 200.000 euros:  Beldì, Family-work balancing project. P.O.R. Campania FSE 2007-2013 Asse II Obiettivo Operativo:  “Promuovere azioni di supporto, studi, analisi nonché la predisposizione esperimentazione di modelli che migliorino la condizione femminile nel mercato del lavoro”

She organized and participates to international conferences on women issues and organizes in Naples the first Italian scientific workshop on Women and gender Identity in the 1990.

She has published over 100 articles and books.

Her research interests concern community psychology competencies, qualitative research methodologies,  the woman-man relationship with special reference to  gender asymmetry, migration and intercultural dialogue.
