Otto Gradenwitz und der Kampf für die Grundlagenprojekte

Abstract

The opening address focusses on the achievements of Otto Gradenwitz (1860-1935), a legal historian who was the founder of the Sammelbuch, Berichtigungsliste, and Wörterbuch, which, with great personal commitment and against all odds, he succeeded in bringing to life. It presents for the first time the evaluation report, on the basis of which Gradenwitz's application for funding to the Prussian Ministry in December 1905 was rejected. His unremitting battle continues to be fought today in order to secure the long-term funding and sustainability of the most fundamental projects in our field.
